Curated photographs from world renowned chef Magnus Nilsson will take you on a culinary journey through Sweden
Known as one of the top chefs in the world for his work at Fäviken Magasinet, internationally lauded chef Magnus Nilsson was assigned by Phaidon Press to document the origins of Nordic cuisine. The result was a monumental collection of 700 recipes in The Nordic Cookbook.
For two years, Nilsson travelled extensively throughout the Nordic countries: Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, collecting traditional recipes and photographing the region’s landscapes and people. His encounters with the people he met and the places he visited were captured in over 8,000 photos, a creative medium Nilsson explores with as much passion and obsession as with his cooking.
A Photographic Essay of Landscapes, Food and People features Nilsson’s original travelogue photography with accompanying narratives that he wrote while conducting research for the project. The large-scale photographs transport visitors to the landscapes Nilsson encountered, the communities he visited, and personalities he met along the way.
