National Night Out

South Patio

August 6, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm

Union Station will partner with the Los Angeles Police Department on National Night Out, an evening of fun family-focused activities to bring neighbors together. The national community-building campaign is a “night to unite” and promotes police community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

From 5-8 p.m., representatives from the LAPD, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Fire Department will meet with Angelenos from across the city on the station’s South Patio to foster a relationship between neighbors and law enforcement and promote community engagement.

Guests can explore a selection of equipment including a Mounted Police unit (2 horses), Bomb K9 unit, black and white police cruisers, police and sheriff’s department motorcycles, and a fire engine while enjoying a host of fun interactive events including:

  • Karaoke with a Cop
  • Kids Zone and Crafting Corner
  • Community Games/Puzzle Tables
  • Face Painting
  • Balloon Twister
  • Photo Booth

The event will also include a Gift of Gratitude station that will allow guest to create a card and message of gratitude for a friend, neighbor or officer and a Helping Hands Wall where kids/adults can trace their hands and create a special message for their public safety officers.

Additional participants to include the Long Beach Police Department, L.A. Public Library and the Metro Transit Safety Program. Starbucks will join in the festivities with free coffee and lemonade and guests can indulge in a selection of treats throughout the evening including churros, cookies and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream samples.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide each year.

Go Metro to all events by taking the Red, Purple, Gold or Silver Line directly to Union Station L.A.
