A Bach Birthday Celebration Featuring a 10-hour Bach Marathon at L.A’s Iconic Union Station
Bach in the Subways L.A. returns to celebrate the 332nd birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach with free pop-up performances of the renowned German composer’s repertoire at Union Station on Saturday, March 18 from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. The 10 hour marathon will kick off with a “Coffee Cantata” and free coffee donated by Starbucks.
This year’s marathon will be expansive with big sights and sounds, for an experience of Bach on a large auditory and visual scale. The Los Angeles Organ Company is back for its noontime organ concert in the historic Ticket Hall. Also planned for the birthday festivities will be the 60-person Aria Choir, and the 65-piece Los Angeles Recorder Orchestra performing arrangements for recorders of various sized and tones. And returning for another year the tour de force sound of Kaleidoscope, the conductor-less orchestra, along with the crowd-favorite Noir Saxophone Quartet performing selections from the Goldberg Variations.
