Part of Metro Art’s long-standing partnership with the Poetry Society of America, we are thrilled to present legendary Los Angeles performance poet, Kamau Daáood. Co-founder of the World Stage Performance Gallery, Daáood has spent decades engaged with audiences locally, nationally and internationally. The award winning, critically acclaimed poet’s cascading images, and syncopated flow, likened to improvised music aimed at truth telling and healing is what we have come to expect from his performances. The author and recording artist has been referred to as the word musician due to his electrifying performance style. He will be joined by an amazing group of youthful poets and musicians. Kamau is happy to have the amazing musician, keyboardist Mark de Clive-Lowe as musical director for this event.
Launched in October 1998, Poetry in Motion/LA™ places poetry directly in the path of more than one million Metro bus riders daily. In addition to placing over 60,000 poetry placards on the interiors of Metro buses, the program also sponsors live poetry readings at busy bus stops and rail stations throughout Los Angeles County during the month of April (National Poetry Month).
