Inspired by the ambiguity behind the rising mural movement in Los Angeles, Varda documents her search for the art community transforming public art through visionary artworks. This documentary acts as a catalogue, preserving images and stories of early Los Angeles muralists of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

This documentary series highlights the vibrant social, cultural and artistic movements that flourished across Los Angeles in the 1980s and 1990s. All films in the series were directed by women. “Mur Murs” features interviews with notable Los Angeles muralists including Metro commissioned artists Judy Baca and Richard Wyatt.
